Too Many Things Outside of Your Control? Think Again

There will always be things in life that we can’t control…


🫠Whether it’s work, sickness, family issues, or genetics - there will always be something. It does not matter who you are! We’ve all got things going on.


What’s important to remember is that no matter what set of circumstances you are working with or where your starting point is, there is always SOMETHING we can do to make things better. Your goals are within reach, you just have to do the work to get there.


One of my favourite sayings when it comes to health and life really is ‘the magic you’re looking for is in the work you’re not doing’.


I hear barriers all the time in the clinic and my answer is usually always this… yes, but what could you still do?


This isn’t to dismiss people’s challenges or take away from their difficulties, but to remind them that while yes things are hard and there are potentially many things outside of our control that could stop us from starting or progressing, we have the option to let them stop us and just not do anything and therefore not get to where we want to be.


Or, instead, we can acknowledge what sucks but find a way to make the best of whatever cards we are currently being dealt and focus on what we can still do to get to where we want to be.


So instead of hiding behind things that are currently and will always be out of your control, focus on what you CAN STILL DO.


I guarantee you, that whatever you have going on at the moment it will feel so much more bearable when you flip your mindset and focus on can’s instead of cant’s.


And honestly, if you’re serious about reaching your goals and making positive changes in your life you really have no option but to think like this.


There is always something we can do, sometimes we just need a bit of help working out what that is.
